Sarah Henderson has conceded to Libby Coker in the seat of Corangamite on Wednesday with Postal voting still being finalised.

The result saw Labor regain the recently rezoned seat of Corangamite and incumbent Sarah Henderson removed from parliament after two terms for the Liberal party.

The rezoning of Corangamite saw a shift of last elections result which had Labor marginally ahead of the Liberal party by 0.03%.

Ms Coker said “The rezoning definitely helped with my victory,” and “a stronger social media campaign,” and “put more funding towards advertising.”

“I am going to keep the government accountable and make sure they understand they need to acknowledge me as the local member,” she said

Sarah Henderson said in a media release, “I am delighted the Morrison Liberal government has been re-elected with an increased majority.”

She said “it has been an incredible honour to serve the people of Corangamite since 2013. I am so proud of all that we have achieved.”

“I know that the people of Corangamite will benefit for years to come from the recent commitments I secured,” she said.

“The redistribution reduced our margin from 53.1 to 49.97 per cent and had an obvious impact on our prospects in Corangamite,” she said

Sarah Henderson declined the request to comment.
